Gender Politics and Artistic Expression: A Visit From Red Vespa
Sunday, April 10 | 3:00 PM | Free and open to all
Works from the repertoire of Red Vespa
Performers: Marian Wilson Kimber, Orator
Natalie Landowski, Piano
Red Vespa is a group that focuses on the performance of Spoken-Word compositions by
and for women from the early- and mid- twentieth century. This repertoire is chronologically
parallel to some of the artworksin the Women Surrealism, and Abstraction exhibition. There are also delightful resonances between the music and the art in
that these spoken word pieces were favorite entertainments in women’s groups that
encouraged female artistic expression in music and visual art.
Face masks strongly encouraged. Thank you!
